Have you noticed the new changes? Kid’s Garden has had a major make over this past week. Now we have a much larger Preschool class room and have dedicated a new area to our infant and toddler program. New toys, new centers and new possibilities was our goal and with the help of our extremely dedicated staff we have reached that. The students are very excited about our new set up and Oliver even said “It’s a new school!!”
A BIG thank you goes out to the teachers for all their hard work and dedication to our school. We hope to make even more improvement over the coming months and if anyone out there has any special skills such as painting we would love your help.

Kids Garden Is Going Green

At Kids Garden we care about the environment and our Earth. We also believe that it is never too early to start teaching children to have respect for our planet. Below you will find some examples of how we teach the students to care for our Earth:
- Recycling
- Creating recycled art (as pictured on the right)
- “No Trash Tuesday”; on this day we ask students to use reusable containers in their lunchbox.
- Plus, we often discuss ways to protect our planet.
See What Our Parents Are Saying!
“KIDS GARDEN has provided our daughter with an excellent, creatively nurturing and socially friendly and warm environment. We have noticed a very steady and satisfying progress in our daughter’s intellectual and social skill set. The school’s environment is a blend of various global cultures and the teachers encourage students to learn about different cultures right from the pre-school stage. Overall, an excellent pre-school.”
-Praveen and Deepa. Parents of Radhika Rao.
“Our son LOVES Kids Garden. He comes home every day talking about all of the new things he has learned. We are especially impressed with the focus Kids Garden has on diversity – with their staff, with the children in his class, and with the lessons they teach the kids about different cultures and countries. The teachers are caring, smart and talented. We are so happy our son goes to Kids Garden!”
-Barb
“All three of my children have attended Kids Garden over the last 6 years. All of them really enjoyed learning and playing there. As a parent, I could not have found a better place that served as a second home for my children when I was working, somewhere they felt safe & loved, somewhere they could learn/grow & play. I have been extremely pleased with Kids Garden, not only today but throughout the years.”
-Lorraine
“In the morning we never push our 3-year old to go there – she happily dashes to the center of her own accord. It speaks for itself.”

New program and curriculum
Dear Kid’s Garden Parents,
We’re proud to announce that we are developing a new program and curriculum! Kid’s Garden has always had an especially diverse student body and staff, and we’ve decided to utilize this by developing a way for your children and others to learn geography, intercultural understanding, and foreign languages at a young age. We feel that the best place to start is with what we know, that is, what your children know. By involving their heritage, language, and culture in our curriculum, our children can at once learn from each other and better appreciate the values and customs they have grown up with. We start immediately, and we’d much appreciate your help! To begin with, the list attached contains many objects, places, and people that your children interact with on a daily basis. If you child’s native language is not English, or if you’d like to incorporate any other language into their lives, please fill out the translations. You may either print it and bring the handwritten copy, or simply return this email with the words contained. Through multilingual labels, games, and activities, we are confident that we can expand your child’s vocabulary in a new way! Remember though, this curriculum is not limited to international students – on the sheet attached, there is a small section for you to tell us a little about where you came from, whether you’ve been in Ann Arbor all your life, or whether you’ve come from across the world. We are interested in having all our students teaching, and all our students learning. Everyone can bring both to the table.
In addition, we’ll be taking more field trips and bringing in new guest speakers! All of these will focus on intercultural understanding and education – cultural centers, artists, and storytellers from all over the world will be coming to meet with us.
If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions, please feel free to let us know! We’d love to hear what you think.
We are excited about working with all of you in a new way!
Sincerely,
Kid’s Garden

Trike-a-Thon slideshow
This was Kids Gardens fifth year doing the St. Jude’s Trike-a-Thon and what a beautiful day it was to hold this fantastic fundraiser event. With the support of Kids Gardens families we were able to not only enjoy a beautiful day outside on our trikes, but we generated $200 to help with children’s cancer research. Here’s a slideshow of our adventurous day:

Summer Science Camp 2008
Summer Science Camp 2008 is off to a great start! We started our summer by exploring sound. We discovered how sound is made and how it travels. We are now working on light. We have investigated shadows and reflections. We will soon explore color and how we use light.
Other topics we are going to cover are Nature, Electricity, Weather, and Matter.
We are looking forward to a great summer! There is still space available if you know a young scientist!
